Alexander Irving received his Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1987 and his Masters of Fine Art degree from York University in 2000. He also holds a degree in education from McGill University. Irving has been active exhibiting his artwork nationally and internationally since 1986, and is represented by Diaz Contemporary in Toronto. Currently, he is a lecturer at the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus. Most recently his work was included in Carte Blanche2, Painting at the Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art to launch a book on contemporary Canadian painting in which his work also appeared.
