Matthew Brown works with painting and drawing. He completed his BFA at Uvic where he studied with Sandra Meigs. He obtained his MFA from Concordia University, Montreal and studied with Janet Werner and Eleanor Bond (September 2006). In 2006, Brown was featured in Contemporary Magazine as one of 50 emerging artists from around the world. Brown was a finalist in the RBC Painting Competition twice (2005 & 2006). In 2006, he won the prize for Western Canada. Brown was recently included in Carte Blanc II: Painting and his work was included in the exhibition at the MOCCA, Toronto, that coincided with the book launch. Brown's most recent solo exhibitions were at Clint Roenisch Gallery, Toronto (February 2009), and Tracey Lawrence Gallery, Vancouver (2007/08). Brown also works collaboratively with The Lions.
