Peter Hobbs is a Canadian artist who uses performance and installation to create site-specific works that deal with queer history and queer ways of thinking. Presently, Peter is collaborating with AA Bronson in an ongoing project entitled Invocation of the Queer Spirits. Loosely combining shamanistic ritual and séance, the project honors the queer spirit of the living and the dead. “Rusty” (2000-2009) is part of a series that plays with the twin meaning of possession and how our clothes and objects often take on a life of their own. Woven into the fibers of “Rusty” are memories and emotions that will always belong to me. This jacket is me. I can be bought for $750.
